Art advocacy
Together with Docudays International Film Festival for Human Rights and the Docu/Clubs Network for Reforms, the Ukrainian-Danish Youth House organised an art advocacy event to empower young Ukrainian activists working to promote inclusion with local authorities. Social media and websites pose a challenge for many people with visual impairments. In Ukraine, access to essential information such as updates on power outages is crucial. That’s why the Docudays UA Film Club ran a campaign with recommendations for the media to improve access to news for people with visual impairments. Their guide, “News Accessible to Everyone”, was complemented by a film screening and discussion at the Ukrainian-Danish Youth House on December 14th, 2023. During the event, invitations were sent to the city councils of Kyiv and Lviv, which responded positively and have since followed up on several of the recommendations. Kyiv has already developed a special version of its website for visually impaired users.
