Dance can liberate

In Türkiye; we have been working with children and young people for several years with a focus on play and learning. In 2023, we expanded our focus to include children and young people with physical and mental challenges, including children and young people from the areas affected by the devastating earthquakes in 2023.

Together with the children’s art festival “Atta”, we organised activities at one of the most famous museums in Istanbul, Sakıp Sabancı Museum, to focus on children with physical or mental challenges. Through dance, interactive games, and workshops, we created a free space for the participating children. The main mission was to emphasise that “all bodies can dance” and thus create an opportunity for children to move freely without external expectations in an inclusive environment.’
