Black Dog

Mental health was the underlying theme for most of our activities in Beijing in 2021. Mental disorders constitute a global crisis in the making so we need to find a way to embrace the stigma and taboos that surround them. The exhibition “Black Dog” specifically addressed depression by bringing together deeply personal statements from persons suffering from depression and anxiety with stories from relatives who speak up about the feelings of loving someone gradually falling apart. The Chinese statements woven into a gigantic duvet cover, and the Danish quotes was presented in calligraphy. All in all, a guide to overcoming stigma by sharing stories of people with mental-health issues of their own, people who have overcome them, and people who have reached out to help and embrace others in need.
