Episode 1: Leading a Youth House in Wartime
Julie Arnfred Bojesen, the leader of the Ukrainian-Danish Youth House, was forced to evacuate in 2022 but has since made countless journeys back to Kyiv. This episode follows her efforts to sustain a space where young Ukrainians can engage actively in society and find both community and cultural connection.
Episode 2: Fighting for Youth Representation
We meet 19-year-old Olesia Leleka, a law student and political activist in Kyiv. Olesia is dedicated to increasing youth participation in politics and fighting against discrimination, all while navigating the instability of life in a war zone. Her story highlights the resilience of young civic leaders who refuse to let war silence their voices.
Episode 3: Art as Resistance
Kyiv-based artist Nick, also known as KESER1, found his artistic voice amid the war. Once a volunteer helping the elderly, he now uses his paintings to express political messages and personal emotions. His work, showcased at the Ukrainian-Danish Youth House and his own Flowerbed Gallery, exemplifies how art becomes both a mirror and a battleground in wartime.
Episode 4: Youth and Hope Near the Frontline
In Mykolaiv, a city heavily impacted by the war, young people like Liobov and Andrii struggle with an uncertain future. Schools and cultural sites have been destroyed, and many have left—but a new Ukrainian-Danish Youth House offers glimmers of hope: A place, where young people can rebuild a sense of community and joy in a time of hardship.
The Ukrainian-Danish Youth House is run by a local team of employees, funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and implemented by the Danish Cultural Institute and DUF – Danish Youth Council.
