White Nights – a week of Scandinavian Culture in Kraków
White Nights – a week of Scandinavian Culture
For many years the Main Library of Pedagogical University of Kraków has organized projects zooming in on various countries’ cultures, e.g. America, Italy or Spain. White Nights – a week of Scandinavian Culture is focusing on literature, history, culture and scientific achievements of Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Iceland and Finland.
The event is addressed to both children, youth and adults and includes a series of lectures on particular geographical and natural areas (e.g. Jutland or Copenhagen), Vikings, Scandinavian mythology and Old Norse language. The festival is also rich in language, art and handicraft workshops.
Literature is also an important part of the program. Part of the Literary section is a lecture by Danish Cultural Institute in Kraków’s director, Bogusława Sochańska, on Hans Christian Andersen and his reception in Poland and abroad.
Join us also for a presentation in English by our interns Amanda Laasholdt and Adnan Tajić The Many Faces of Denmark and watch our exhibition Andersen’s fairy tales in Polish book illustration.
