New Democracy Fund

In response to democratic challenges in the Eastern Neighbourhood Countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark established in 2020 The New Democracy Fund.

The fund supports new and existing civil society partnerships in regard to strengthening democratic development in the Eastern Neighbourhood Countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine) by promoting democracy, human rights, and gender equality.

The fund is built on dialogue, co-operation, and aims to create new and strengthen the existing relations between civil society organisations in the Eastern Neighbourhood Countries and Denmark.

Danish Cultural Institute and the New Democracy Fund

The Danish Cultural Institute’s role in the New Democracy Fund is twofold: As lead partner, we host the secretariat and have the overall administrative and financial responsibility of the New Democracy Fund. We do this by partnering with local cultural organisations, establishing a regional cultural network, and initiating and supporting projects within the cultural sphere.
