Guide for a creative summer with plenty of experiences
Summer is the perfect time to try something new. Maybe something you have always wanted, but have never got around to do. If you live in or near Copenhagen, or if you are visiting the Danish capital for a vacation, and if you are interested in art and culture, we have found some activities for you to try out, during this hot summer in Denmark.
Learn to sketch at til AHA! Absalon Avant Crouquis
Croquis is the term for making a sketch of a live model. This discipline has traditionally been a form of practice for artists and fashion designers, but in recent years it has spread out to “ordinary people” as well. In July, the community space Absalon provides the opportunity of being an artist for an evening. The participants can give their inner creative impulses free reins for two hours, while improving their skills of concentration and focus.

Print graphic design with a multimedia artist at SMK
At the National Gallery of Denmark, house artist Michael Boelt Fischer is hosting a workshop in graphic design. He will present different techniques such as linoleum and woodcut. For inspiration, the participants will get the chance to explore some of the more unknown areas of the museum, where the Royal Collection of Graphic Art lies hidden for most visitors of the mueseum. The artist will guide the participants through the entire creative process that goes into making a piece of graphic art.
After the workshop, the participants are welcome to stay and experience 700 year’s of art in the collections of SMK (National Gallery). Hurry and join the workshop, it takes place on June 29th!

Louisiana’s children’s wing
If you are a parent and want your children to develop their creativity the children’s wing of Louisiana Museum of Modern Art is an excellent choice. Located in the pretty town Humlebæk (about a 30 minute train ride from Copenhagen), overlooking Nivå Bay, you will find Louisiana. The museum is very well-known and well-liked by Danes, and keeps an international standard. But Louisiana is more than a museum, they also have a very special children’s wing. Here, young ones between the ages of 4-16 can draw, paint and sculpt. A great opportunity to burst into the world of art!
When: the activities runs from tuesday-sunday, 11.00-17.30 (11.00-17.00 in holidays) every week. The children’s wing closes at 18.00.

Get a tech upgrade at FABLAB Creative Space
Copenhagen Main Library cooperates with different friends of the house, arranging a variety of workshops. At FabLab Nordvest you can try out new technologies, like laser cutting and 3D printers. This way you can see how these technologies can be utilized for creative projects. FabLab Nordvest offers a wide selection of machines, intro courses for programs and much more. Membership costs 150 kr. and gives access to all the facilities during opening hours.
If you are not in need of much assistance, another FabLab in the Valby part of Copenhagen lets you use similar equipment, free of charge. During opening hours, staff will be around to help visitors out, but the creative space is open almost 365 days a year, from morning to night. So if using the technology catches your interest in the long run, there are plenty of opportunity for developing your skills and projects!
